Rainbow Bridge at Villa La PAWS on Shea - Phoenix

In memory of our dear friends who have gone to the Rainbow Bridge...

Max P.

Max_Plann2We are all deeply saddened to say goodbye to Max Plann, an exceptional Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a large heart (and larger body).

Max was a very intelligent dog.  He learned that he could weasel an extra end-of-day treat out of the Villa La Paws staff at drop off by barking excitedly and refusing to enter group until given one.  He would also alert the counselors when it was time for him to go home the second he saw mom’s car on the horizon. This is not to imply that he did not like being in group.  Max always had a smile on his face and wag in his tail, whether he was playing ball, cuddling with the counselors, or sitting on his favorite end table.

Max didn’t always like to get groomed, but was always excited to see the groomers.

This happy boy loved and was loved by everyone here at La Paws, and will be sorely missed.

Sedona M-S.

It is with deep regret that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Daycare staple, Sedona our little Jack Russell Terrier.

While small in stature, this little lass was nothing short of Napoleonic in attitude, resulting in her effective ban from little kids group.  Despite her relative modest size and demure disposition, Sedona lorded over the big kids from her lofty perch atop the couch and laps of counselors alike.  Her reign was just, her justice sharp, and her rule will be missed.

What affection Sedona lacked for her pint-sized peers was more than made up for by her love of the human staff at Villa La Paws.  None could resist loving this intelligent, charming little dog with the most adorable ears ever to grace a head.  We will all miss her face kisses, leg scratches, and the joy she brought us whenever the hose was turned on.

You will be greatly missed and we love you, Scooby Doo.

MAGGIE M-B.

Picture_484Maggie was a 10 year old drooly, loveable lug of a BloodHound. She enjoyed her bandanas after grooms and would bay with excitement for her mani/pedi's. Maggie greatly enjoyed spending her days with sister Pepper and would always be excited to see Coonhound buddy, Zion. Her favorite part of the day was pick-up, not because she didn't enjoy daycare, not because she was anxious to get home... She loved her treats! Maggie is now off to the rainbow bridge to join one of her best buddies Nathanel.

There will always be a special place for you here at Paws and all of the staff from both Bell and Shea will miss you very much, Sweet Maggie.

ROCKY P.

ROCKYWe had the pleasure of knowing Rocky for the last year of his 15 year life. He was a great companion to his dad Cesar and was a great older brother to his sister Chiquita and brother Chupi. Rocky was a wonderful co-worker he never missed a day of work. He worked the night shift with his Dad, taking care of all our over guests after hours. He was such a dedicated worker that he would sneak away from his dad in the morning and patrol the hallways before anyone else was awake. He touched everyone’s heart that had the pleasure of working with him.

Rocky will always have a place not only on our couch but also in our hearts! He will be missed by all of his Villa La Paws Friends and Family!

MAX M.

Max_MatthewsMax Matthews was the most pleasant beagle ever to come to PAWS!

We are all extremely sad that he was taken from us so soon! Max loved to come to PAWS to hang with all his friends. Max spent all of his 'vacations' at the resort.

He had a very special beagle bark to let us know he was ready for his meals. Most of the time Max was very mellow, except when it came time for his meals! We always listened to him and made sure he was first to eat! All of the staff at Villa La PAWS will miss him terribly.

DAKOTA E.

DakotaDakota Essig was a very sweet and loving boy who will be missed by all of his human and canine friends at PAWS. He wasn’t a huge player but he loved to mingle and make his way to greet the dogs. He liked to sit back and just watch the group, making him a great companion to hang out with.

Dakota had a very caring relationship with his sisters; they always looked out for one another. Even though he needed a little more help getting around as he got older, you could tell he had a lot of spunk in his younger years. His big brown eyes held a sparkle behind them like he had a bunch of stories just waiting to be told.

We will miss seeing Dakota but he will always be remembered. Our deepest condolences go out to his mom and dad, Renee and Tracy and of course his sisters/best friends, Akasha, Ayla, and Yankee Doodle.

HIPPIE CHIC B.

Hippie Chic B.There are no words to explain how we feel about the loss of our girl, Hippie Chic. She was the craziest, happiest, most energetic dog we have ever had here at PAWS. When she came into daycare, we knew we better be ready for her play-play-play attitude that never stopped. She would leap into the daycare group in the morning barking “Good morning, how are you?!” to everyone she came across. She did the same thing when it was time to go home... leap into leash area to get dressed barking, “Bye everyone!” as she raced down the hallway. Hippie Chic lived on the edge, always ready for anything, whether it was playing in the water, racing after a tennis ball, or hiking with her mom. She had an amazing zest for life and we will miss seeing her leap through out gates.

We’ve shared many memories with Hippie Chic. She will never be forgotten by anyone at PAWS and will forever hold a special place in our hearts. We send our condolences out to her parents, Lisa and Steve, who Hippie Chic thought the world of.

MAKENZIE J.

Makenzie JMakenzie had been apart of the Paws family since the Ruff Life days. His usual play day was Fridays and every Friday we would look forward to seeing him. Makenzie was a real "people" dog; he'd be content all day sitting down next to one the counselors and watching the world go by.

Every time he boarded with us, mom and dad would send Mac N Cheese flavored baby food to mix in with his dry food and before we knew it everyone was calling him “Mac N Cheese”.

We send our condolences out to his mom and dad, Jenny and Scott, and anyone else who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a sweet, special boy and we will always treasure the memories that we have of him.

ELLIE R.

rbellierayhornEllie had been apart of Paws since the Ruff Life days. She was one of the gentlest and sweetest golden retrievers you would have ever met. Ellie lived to be around people. She was happiest when she was side by side with a counselor. Ellie was the kind of dog that if she was a person and you knew her for years, you could sit with her for hours without saying a word and be completely comfortable.

Ellie loved belly rubs. She would lie on her back, ears spread open on the ground, paws in the air, and her lips pulled back giving her the goofiest grin on her face and you could tell she was the happiest dog in the world at that moment. She also loved walking herself into and out of daycare. She would carry her leash in her mouth to the check-in gate in the morning and do the same thing going home at night except to the treat station.

Ellie will be missed by everyone who knew her. Our hearts go out to her parents, Lori and Dustin and also to her brother and best friend Captain Jack.

CASEY F.

caseyfThis gentle giant, as we had called him, had been coming to Paws since he was a puppy. Getting to see him everyday and watching him grow up to be the happy go lucky dog that he did was a pleasure to all of us. You couldn’t help but smile when you saw Casey. He would bound over to you with his entire body shaking with excitement staring at you with his big brown eyes and just petting him would make his day.

Casey was a friend to everyone in daycare and never had anything bad to say about anyone. He loved playing fetch with the tennis ball and his goal every time was to catch it in his mouth, most of the time he missed but he never gave up. He also liked playing in the pool and then lounging in the sun to relax.

We send our condolences out to his parents Pat and Pat and his sister Kiah who probably misses him the most since they came to daycare together everyday. Casey will always have a special place in our hearts and the good memories we’ve shared with him at daycare will forever be remembered.

HENRY B.

Henry BThere are Jack Russells, and then there was Henry... a Jack like no other! This unforgettable little man was a perfect gentleman fromthe very first day he attended daycare (which was WAY back when PAWS was known as It's A Ruff Life!). Henry had it all... stunning good looks, personality plus, great kisser, and a set of distinctive ears which when combined with is repetoire of adorable expressions, made everyone smile! He loved to play AND cuddle, which is fortunate because nobody could resist bestowing ample bellyrubs and head (and butt) scratches at every opportunity. Yes, Henry attracted attention because he was simple irresistible!

After being an only child for the first years of his life, it was a tad difficult when his Mom Jessica added his sister Sierra to the family. But before too long, Henry became a doting big brother to his rambunctious sibling. And as he started to gray around the temples, we could swear he encouraged her to go over the top so he could sit back on the sidelines, and smile proudly at her antics.

Henry will remain in our hearts and minds as a true prince amongst dogs. We will be forever grateful for the time he spent with us.

Amber08AMBER F.

The entire Villa La PAWS family is mourning the loss of our official greeter at our Villa La PAWS on Shea Resort; Amber Faircloth has started her journey across the rainbow bridge.

Most of our Shea customers have had the pleasure of being greeted by the little golden fox eared lady that ruled over the reception area as her imminent domain [more]...

cassieylgCASSIE Y.

There are some dogs out there that are really human trapped in dogs clothes, Cassie was one of those dogs. She had a very special presence about her... a gentle soul with an "all knowing" personality.

Cassie was a very special little girl to many people. When you looked into those beautiful brown eyes you could see that she was much more than just a dog.

We send our love and appreciation to Cassie's mom Shelly and siblings Toffee and Manney for allowing us to be a part of her life for so long.

Good bye Cassie. We will truly miss you at Villa la Paws but take solace in knowing that we will see you at the Rainbow Bridge.

JackieJACKIE F.

PAWS on Shea recently bade farewell to a very dear friend. Jackie was a long-time member of the PAWS family, and well before that, from Ruff Life days. She and her big brother Cooper have been fixtures at daycare here for more than seven years; needless to say, they occupy a very special place in a great many hearts.

Although the years took the spring from her step, and the black markings of her face gave over to gray, true to form as a boxer, Jackie never seemed to lose the mischievous twinkle in her eyes. For a long time, one of her favorite games was hazing new counselors by growling when they scratched her flanks, which she happened to enjoy very much! The more vigorous the scratching, the more menacing the growl. But for all her kidding, Jackie was one of the sweetest, gentlest souls ever to pass through our doors.

Please join all of us in offering our most heartfelt condolences to Jackie's parents, Fred and Kay, and her brother Cooper, who will probably miss her most of all. And let us offer them our thanks, as well, for sharing Jackie's wonderful, all too brief life with us.
